Nottingham artist Carole Ellis featured on Sky Arts

Wow! My art chosen to air on Sky Arts !
CRUK Cancer Research UK have launched their ad campaign in a drive to invite donations and legacies. Award-winning film production company, Recipe, invited me to be a part of the action and what a thrilling ride it has been. Huge thanks to Nottingham Society of Artists, Friar Lane, Nottingham for allowing the filming to take place in their gallery on 6th December – not a trivial exercise as an exhibition was in process which had to be dismantled and put back when filming was complete!
FILM PREMIERE I attended the premiere screening hosted at the British Film Institute (BFI), Stephen Street, London on 4th February 2025 and was deeply moved by the compelling stories of the four cancer survivors at the heart of the campaign. Wherever it rears, cancer is a devastating and complex phenomenon affecting the lives of not just the patient, but everyone connected to the patient. We all want to be cured, to get the best care and treatment, and to resume a happy, healthy, and fulfilling life. CRUK drives the science forward in its search for answers and every breakthrough has a profound impact on patients, carers, and medical professionals. I am alive, I am healthy, I am cured. I, like so many others, am a direct beneficiary of cancer research and I very much hope that these short films, aired on Sky Arts and Channel 5 for 3 months, achieve CRUKs objectives.
CAROLE ELLIS WHY ME? I am pretty sure that my immense good fortune to receive an award from The Arts Council, England to produce a portfolio of work on breast cancer was a significant factor in my selection. The 41-piece collection is now on permanent display in the radiology corridor at the Breast Institute of Nottingham City Hospital – the perfect home to engage and distract patients and visitors as they progress their own breast cancer journey.
