Artist Eirian Bell A.T.C. A.T.D., a Fellow of The Nottingham Society of Artists has recently had fifteen of her pictures featured at the Nottingham Playhouse during the run of the play Amy’s View – Friday 5th to Saturday 20th November 2010.

This came about as a result of the artistic director of the Nottingham Playhouse contacting Eirian after seeing her work on the N.S.A.T. website. He was impressed by the style and flair of her paintings and consequently thought the work to be perfect for this particular production.

Eirian moved to Nottingham after graduating as an arts teacher from Wrexham and Manchester Colleges of Art, beginning her teaching career here at Cinderhill and remaining, with a few breaks, ever since.

A North Walian by birth, Eirian continues to research Welsh themes, but is mainly inspired by the urban imagery around her, both People and Places. Her favourite artists include Van Gogh, Cezanne, Braque, also the Italian Futurist painters. All experimental and expressive in their approach

She works mainly in Acrylic which suits her direct approach and enables her to interpret each subject very freely. Examples of her work can be found in our ‘Artists and Art’ section of this website.

Her work has also appeared in the following galleries:
Nottingham – Nottingham Society of Artist Trust Galleries – Various Exhibitions
Nottingham – Djanagoly Art Gallery – Summer Exhibition
Nottingham – Patching’s Farm – Open Exhibition
Nottingham – Nottingham Castle Exhibition (celebrating 130 years of the N.S.A.)
Derby – Derby Art Gallery – Open Exhibition
Conway – Royal Cambrian Academy – Friends Exhibition

Since retirement ‘getting on’ with her own work has been a central focus. She finds that her adopted city, with its’ diversity of style and culture, endlessly stimulating.
To be invited to participate in this production was a great thrill as Eirian has never previously been involved with theatre. It was, therefore, not a difficult decision to accept this accolade.

An example of Eirians work – ‘Snowdonian Landscape’ – is shown below along with pictures of her reception at the Nottingham Playhouse.
